Only the blind could fail to see the corruption that has taken hold of these swamps, its foul tendrils seeping into every root and shadow. I was sent here to uncover the truth of what plagues the Grim Hollow, yet my task has been far from easy. The swamps are patrolled by red dragonkin, their minds ensnared by the same corruption that poisons this land. We dragons share a bond, a sense of our kin, and they sense me as surely as I sense them. Each time I've sought to approach the Tomb of Ancestors, they have intercepted me, driven not by reason but by the darkness that clouds their minds. And so, I remain here, sheltered beneath this ancient oak, but unable to fulfill the purpose that brought me to this cursed place. You, however, are unbound by the ties of dragonkind. You must venture into the depths of the Tomb of Ancestors and uncover the source of this corruption. I am certain it lies within, festering and spreading its taint. The fate of these lands may rest upon your mortal courage.
On return
I cannot say what horrors await you in the depths of the Tomb of Ancestors. The corruption that festers there is ancient and powerful, far beyond the reckoning of most mortals. Prepare yourself well before you venture forth, and heed this warning—do not let foolish heroics guide your actions. Caution and wisdom will serve you far better than reckless bravery.
Turn-in
A dark ritual? A cursed dwarven sorcerer? Mortal, you speak of things beyond your understanding. That is no mere dwarf—it is a skardyn, a twisted and vile abomination, once kin to dwarves but long since fallen into darkness. And if the skardyn walk these lands once more, it can mean only one thing—the gates of Grim Batol have been opened again. The noble draconic defenders who once stood vigil over that cursed place have succumbed to madness, their minds broken by the lingering corruption of Modgud. Her shadow stretches forth once more, reaching to taint the world anew. This is no mere threat, mortal—this is calamity given form.
