Quest offer
We didn't just throw our tents down wherever the wind took us. There's a reason we're here. Right behind us is an old cave—more like a tunnel, really. And where does it lead? Grim Batol. Or what's left of it. Don't panic, though—the main city is blocked off. The deeper halls collapsed ages ago. What we can reach is just some forgotten outpost, part of the outer ruins. We tried poking around, but didn't get far. Wraiths drove us back—Wildhammer spirits, probably fallen during the Battle for Grim Batol. Only… something's off about them. They're not just restless. They're tainted, like those oozes you found. I need more proof. If you're willing to head down there, put those spirits to rest and bring me back anything you find—samples, cursed residue, anything—I think we'll finally be able to piece together what's going on here.
On return
Wish I could go with you, but... well, I learned the hard way I'm better with books than blades.
Turn-in
<Dorthas squints at the samples, turning them over in his hands. His expression darkens.> Just as I feared… this isn't some random corruption. This is the Shadow Curse—the same blight Modgud unleashed on Grim Batol during the war. And it's still active. Even after all these years, the curse is seeping out, spreading past the ruins. Stone can't hold it back. Time hasn't weakened it. If no one acts… this whole region could fall. This is beyond anything we can handle alone. I'll send word to the mages in Dalaran. They need to know what's happening. As for us… all we can do now is keep watch—and pray.
