While you were gone looking for the flute, I did my own research. I convened with Narkogg in the Maw of Ursoc and we devised a plan on how to unfold the corruption’s secrets. On the island on which the Kaldorei planted the World Tree Teldrassil, an Ancient of remarkable age has rooted himself into the earth of Azeroth, Fangorn, Lord of Eternity. He stood there for eons on his everlasting watch over nature, even after the Night Elves planted the seed of Teldrassil. Someone as old and wise as him will hopefully be able to tell us what darkness resides within Timbermaw Hold. Take this sealed totem with you. Awaken the Ancient with the Flute of Spirits and show him the totem. Before you go, there is one thing you should know. An ancient being such as him speaks a language long forgotten. You will surely not understand his words. I suggest you speak to the druids of Moonglade to learn his language.
On return
The ancient does not move. Like an immovable object, he just stares into the horizon.
Turn-in
The conversation ends and Fangorn returns back to his eternal vigil.
