The Tale of Warmongerer

There was once a brave Gilnean fisherman named Danavar. He lived in the coastal village of Seahaven with his wife and son. However, one day, a terrible tragedy struck when fish men known as Mur'gul invaded Gilneas from the sea. Danavar's wife and son were killed in the attack, leaving him with only his daughter.

At that time, Gilneas was poorly defended as the Army had been depleted after the Calamity of the North. The few troops that were available were covering the land border and were unaware of the true threat from the sea.

With his harpoon and other simple tools, Danavar rallied as many fishermen as he could to form a militia. Together, they moved on the offensive, holding the line against the Mur'gul invasion. More and more people joined Danavar's militia, and eventually, the Royal Army received news of the invasion and relocated south to fight the menace.

The Armies assistance broke the ranks of the Mur'gul, forcing them back into the seas. But Danavar wanted more than just victory; he wanted revenge for the death of his wife and son. So, he rallied the fishermen to attack the enemy, boarding their fishing boats armed with their trusted harpoons.

With their skilled aim, they chased the Mur'gul relentlessly, even into the depths of the sea. Danavar and his fishermen slaughtered the majority of the retreating Mur'gul, and he returned to Gilneas a hero. The King was grateful for Danavar's bravery and granted him knighthood. He was dubbed the Warmongerer in reference to his original profession as a fishmonger.

Danavar moved to Gilneas City with his daughter and served the royal family. Seahaven was never rebuilt, but his daughter grew up well and later married into the Ravenwood family. To ensure Gilneas would never fear the seas again, the King commissioned the creation of the Black Fleet in honor of Danavar's bravery.
